AirData UAV vs UAV-Planner: A Comparison for European Operators (2026)

AirData UAV and UAV-Planner compared for commercial drone operators in Europe, covering flight data analysis, team records, certificates, price and where the data is stored, with a source for every claim.

ComparisonsoftwareEASAcompliance

AirData UAV and UAV-Planner both keep track of drone flights, but they answer different questions. AirData reads the drone's own flight logs and tells you how the aircraft and its batteries are doing. UAV-Planner keeps the operator's records: who flew, with which certificate, on which aircraft, and whether the checklists were done.

We make UAV-Planner, so read this as one vendor's comparison. Every statement about AirData links to the page it comes from, as we read it on 5 October 2026, and there is a section on what AirData does better.

The short version

  • Choose AirData UAV if you want every flight analysed from the drone's own data, with battery health down to the cell, if you fly many different aircraft and apps, or if you are a single pilot who wants a free or low-cost plan.
  • Choose UAV-Planner if you run a team under EASA rules and need pilot certificates, checklists and flight records for everyone in the standard plans, with the data stored in the EU/EEA and Norwegian airspace restrictions on the map.

Where AirData UAV is stronger

  • Flight data analysis. AirData's fleet intelligence page says it looks at the performance of each battery cell after every flight, including voltage, temperature and degradation. UAV-Planner has no battery or flight data analytics.
  • Aircraft and app coverage. The same page lists support for 180+ drone types from 40+ manufacturers and 60 flight apps. In UAV-Planner the pilot logs the flight, whatever the aircraft.
  • Maintenance from real usage. Maintenance can be scheduled by flight hours, cycles or calendar dates, and every uploaded flight updates the aircraft's service timeline.
  • A free plan and low prices for one pilot. The pricing page starts at $0 and lists 360 Pro at $14.99 per month for one account. UAV-Planner has no free plan.
  • Enterprise extras. AirData Enterprise lists an API, mission planning, and add-ons for live streaming and asset management.

Where UAV-Planner is stronger

  • Team records in the standard plans. In UAV-Planner every pilot has their own login from the first plan. AirData's pricing page lists one to four shared pilots on the 360 plans, with unlimited pilots, organisations and role-based access in Enterprise.
  • Certificates without an add-on. UAV-Planner tracks pilot certificates and flags the ones about to expire in every plan. AirData's pricing page lists certification management, which tracks certifications, currency and expiry dates, as an Enterprise add-on.
  • Where the data is stored. UAV-Planner runs on infrastructure in Frankfurt, inside the EU/EEA. AirData's privacy policy, updated 29 September 2026, says the service is hosted in the United States and that transfers from Europe rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Built for the European rules. UAV-Planner is organised around the EASA open and specific categories, with checklists for planning, pre-flight and post-flight and structured SORA 2.5 templates in Professional.
  • Norway. The map shows Norwegian restriction areas, sensor ban zones, nature reserves and controlled airspace. The same data is open in our free drone zone map, and the interface is available in Norwegian.

Price in practice

The two are priced in different units, so a table of totals would mislead. AirData's 360 plans are priced per account: 360 Pro is $14.99 per month, or $164.89 when billed annually, and covers up to four shared pilots and 16 drones. AirData Enterprise is priced on request. UAV-Planner is priced per pilot: €230 per year in Starter and €430 in Professional.

For a single pilot or a very small team that mainly wants flight data analysis, AirData is cheaper, and free for light use. For a team where every pilot needs a login, certificates and checklists, compare UAV-Planner's price with a quote for AirData Enterprise and its certification add-on.

Nothing stops you from using a flight data tool and a records tool side by side. The two do different jobs.

How we checked

Everything about AirData UAV comes from its own website: the pricing page, the fleet intelligence page and the privacy policy, read on 5 October 2026. Prices and plans change, so check those pages before you decide.

FAQ

Is UAV-Planner an alternative to AirData UAV?

Only for part of what AirData does. UAV-Planner replaces spreadsheets and scattered files for flight logs, pilot certificates, equipment and checklists. It has no flight data or battery health analytics, which is AirData's core.

Where does AirData store data?

AirData's privacy policy says the service is hosted in the United States. UAV-Planner runs on infrastructure in Frankfurt, inside the EU/EEA.

Which one is cheaper?

AirData, for one pilot: there is a free plan, and 360 Pro is $14.99 per month for an account. For a team the comparison is between UAV-Planner's price per pilot and a quote for AirData Enterprise. See our pricing for what each plan includes.
