Dronedesk vs UAV-Planner: A Comparison for European Operators (2026)
Dronedesk and UAV-Planner compared for commercial drone operators in Europe, covering what each is built for, price, airspace coverage in Norway, flight logging and where the data is stored, with a source for every claim.
Dronedesk and UAV-Planner are often shortlisted together, but they start from different places. Dronedesk is built around the job: the client, the quote, the plan for the site and the invoice. UAV-Planner is built around the operator's records: pilots, certificates, aircraft, flights and checklists.
We make UAV-Planner, so read this as one vendor's comparison. Every statement about Dronedesk links to the page it comes from, as we read it on 5 October 2026, and there is a section on what Dronedesk does better.
The short version
- Choose Dronedesk if you run a drone service business and want client records, quotes, job planning and invoices in one tool, if most of your flying is in the United Kingdom or the United States, or if you want a dedicated SORA tool.
- Choose UAV-Planner if you are an operator or an in-house drone team in Norway or the Nordics and want Norwegian airspace restrictions on the map, an interface in Norwegian, data stored in the EU/EEA and a company structure with business units.

Where Dronedesk is stronger
- The whole job in one place. Dronedesk's features page covers client records with quotes and invoices next to fleet, team and flight logging. UAV-Planner has no client records, quoting or invoicing.
- Planning intelligence. The same page lists live NOTAMs, flight restriction zones, ground hazards and weather. Its coverage page promises full coverage in the United Kingdom and the United States.
- Log sync. The Pro plan includes flight log auto-sync with DJI, and the FAQ lists log uploads from DJI, Parrot, Litchi, DroneDeploy, AirData and others. In UAV-Planner the pilot logs the flight.
- A dedicated SORA tool. Dronedesk sells a SORA add-on from €83 per month. UAV-Planner offers structured SORA 2.5 templates that you fill in yourself.
- Price. Dronedesk Pro for five users comes to about €849 per year on monthly billing, and the pricing page advertises two months free on annual billing. UAV-Planner Starter for five pilots is €1,150 per year.
Where UAV-Planner is stronger
- Norway. Dronedesk's coverage page puts Norway under partial coverage. UAV-Planner's map is built on Norwegian sources and shows restriction areas, sensor ban zones, nature reserves and controlled airspace. The same data is open in our free drone zone map, and the interface is available in Norwegian.
- Where the data is stored. UAV-Planner runs on infrastructure in Frankfurt, inside the EU/EEA. Dronedesk's Trust Centre says core operational data is hosted in the United Kingdom, with supporting services in Germany and some providers in the United States.
- Company structure. UAV-Planner Professional includes company and business-unit management, so a parent company can run several units with their own pilots and aircraft.
- Checklists and SORA templates in the plan. Professional includes checklists for planning, pre-flight and post-flight tied to each flight, and SORA 2.5 templates, with no add-on fee.
- Priced per pilot, with every pilot a full user. There is one price per pilot per year and no limit on the number of flights or jobs.
Price in practice
List prices, before any discount. Dronedesk's figures are monthly billing multiplied by twelve.
| Team | Dronedesk Pro | UAV-Planner |
|---|---|---|
| 1 pilot | €297 per year | €230 per year (Starter) |
| 5 pilots | €849 per year | €1,150 per year (Starter) |
| 15 pilots | €2,229 per year | €6,450 per year (Professional) |
For a single pilot the two are close. For a team, Dronedesk is the cheaper tool, and its SORA add-on is charged on top. Which one is worth it depends on whether you need the job and client side, or the Norwegian airspace data, the company structure and EU/EEA storage.
